G35X
My wife and I have a serious problem of trading a car almost once a year. We own 3 cars and it seems that we get bored with one of them every year and trade it on something we think is better. I don't know, maybe it is an unconcious quest for the "perfect car". Well if it is I think we finally found it. We immediately fell in love with the G35 on the test drive.
Outside of my first S2K purchase (I'm on my 3rd S2K), it is the only time in recent memory that I had to contain my enthusiasm while negotiating with the dealer to purchase this car. It is a 2007 Infiniti G35X, AWD, 306hp that is from nose to tail an amazing driving machine (sorry BMW). It has 20k miles and we were able to purchase it @ $12k off of the original MSRP. For the price of a loaded Accord or Camry we now own a serious automobile that is a worthy competitor to the 335i for many thousands less.
One drawback is I am just as excited about driving it as I am the S2K. The V6 in this car has some serious power. The torque is unlike any V6 I have ever driven. You would swear that it has a turbo or supercharger. The fact that it is non-aspirated makes it all the more amazing.

I had the 07 G35x for a few months, it was a great car overall.
Infiniti though needs to do some/all of the following in my opinion:
-Direct Injection technology for the engines. This would improve fuel efficiency, which is fairly low as ProV1 pointed out.
-New transmission with more than 5 gears. I believe they have a new 7 speed automatic that they're debuting in Europe first. Hopefully that makes its way here.
-In a sedan I generally need the flexibility of a fold-down rear seat, which I don't believe any of the Japanese luxury automakers offer. But all the European ones do.
-The new G's interior is much improved vs the last generation, but still falls short in terms of materials used against the competition.

This was my last car (rwd) Nice enough but the S is so much more enjoyable to drive. And I don't feel this is an unfair comparison because after all, Infiniti calls this a "sports sedan" If I go for another sedan, I'll prolly buy the is350.
Great car. The engine is quite amazing in the 07+ cars. I got to check out my uncles 07 g35c, it's got a better feel than my friend's 06 350z.
I like the 4drs more than the coupes for the newer style as well.
Sure it may not have 'as good' low end torque as the twin turbo charged engine in the 335i, but although in the same class that's a little apples to oranges IMO. It's an amazing motor for a relatively inexpensive car and it has similar performance figures as the 335i. In reality, very few 335i's will be modded so that isn't overly relavent to me.
As for the interior materials.. maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough to get this one. I've driven E46 M3's, SL500's, Infiniti M45's, so the G35 may not be the best but in reality I usually can't tell a huge difference. I'd rather have the money in my pocket or in the motor either way.
