We still need a full impression from someone that owns one. I've seen quite a few out and about and love the way they look.

Added bonus would be if someone that owns the Genesis got to drive it on track. For what it is, I think the car is good value for money and smiles per mile.

Lol I was just thinking about posting this exact topic a couple days ago.
The car offers fantastic value, top of the line with everything minus navi is 31K and alot of owners are getting them in the mid to high 20s pretty much all day long. The base Z runs about that much and doesnt even have an lsd. You start optioning one up and the weight difference begins to evaporate.
The 5.0 stang comparably equipped will run you at least 5 grand more, I think C&D did a comparison and it was closer to 10; I couldnt belive it so I went to the local ford dealer and sure enough, most were well into the 30s whereas the GC fully loaded was about 30K sticker.
You couple that with a 10 year warranty and you can really have a headache free ownership experience.

In regards to the turbo model, alot of guys are getting some great return on the dollar for mods making a strong argument against the V6. However, the engine, while related to the 2b11t in the evo x, isnt a proven powerplant and I'm be weary in building on it. The only thing it shares with the evo is essentially the blocka, but from what I remember the internals are all cast and the turbo sucks stock as well, whereas the evo is all forged. If it truly was a detuned evo motor, or evo motor minus the turbo, I would be all over the turbo model. You also need to consider the wonderful 10 year warranty when you mod...

Waiting for owners to chime in.

Really really really wish Hyundai had aimed more in the S13 240SX direction.

Drove both models briefly at a ride and drive autocross event thing last year. The 3.8 is nice, good power delivery, nice handling, pretty good brakes, maybe a bit pushy on turn in but I'm sure that can be fixed with the aftermarket (and different tires). Sort of felt like a slightly bigger S2000 with a V6 but less oversteer prone.

The 2.0T was crap, did not feel turbo at all, felt about 160 hp not 200. Maybe if you can chip it to the Sonata Turbo power levels it might be ok but felt really anemic stock (like much slower than a RX-8)

The interior is decent, lightyears ahead of my friend's Tiburon in high school, but nothing luxurious. For the nearly 31K on the 3.8 Track model I can think of tons of other cars I would rather have.

Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to gain more perspective on your position, new for new what other cars would you prefer?

I wasn't specifically thinking only new cars. I'd likely buy something slightly used but still in warranty.

Lightly used in a similar segment I'd rather have a 335/135i coupe 6MT, E46 M3, Z4 M coupe/roadster, 08 STi, EVO X, 987 Boxster S.

New, probably WRX limited, as much as I hate to say it 370Z.

The driving dynamics are very similar to the S2000 as far as steering feedback, brakes, grip limit but the car is more neutral compared to the S2000 and has more torque. You know stuff that matters to drivers who don't buy 4000 lb FWD biased Audi's.

Aside from your incorrect statements on my S5 (which is RWD biased and not 4000lbs), neither version of the Genesis coupe drives like an S2000. The steering feedback is better on the S2000, and is much more accurate. It's also way overboosted. The Brembos on the Genesis are much better, but the car is nowhere near as tossable.
