Germans to copy the Japanese...
For the "Germans are the leaders of the car world" crowed.
From Edmunds:
"2005 Z5 (High-Performance Coupe)
BMW is working on an all-new high-performance two-seater that would take the place of the current Z/M-coupe. The accompanying computer-generated image is based on photographs of actual prototypes caught testing in Spain recently. The philosophy is to build an extremely nimble but fast car by combining a lightweight chassis with a 240-horseower four-cylinder engine much like Honda's much admired S2000."

Remember, that is just an opinion written by a Car Website writer. Don't believe everything you read
I highly doubt that BMW will ever use a 4 cyl on it's new car when they have such a smooth torquey small Inline sixes at their disposal.

this picture has been around for a while. If the actual Z5 coupe looks like this and has the proposed specs (from a while back 2300lbs and 240HP) sign me up. As far as copying...I guess if you really wanted to get into it...who first invented the car...I guess everyone is copying them!!

How is it copying again?
The fact that it has 240hp? The germans were there first with the M3 / M coupe / M roadster.
The fact that it will weigh around 2300 pounds? Let's ponder that, the S2000 is no where near that mark, the MR2 is, but is horridly saddled with a low HP motor ... in fact I'm trying to think of one high horsepower lightweight Japanese car -- yet I can't.
I can think of many bloated overweight pigs with high horsepower and Japanese names (Supra, Skyline) .. but it you ask me the concept of a big motor in a tiny car is a European one never accomplished (copied) well by the Japanese.
