Default Getting back on

I purchased a wrecked 2006 gsx-r600 w/3k miles on It about 4 weeks ago for $4300(guy just wanted to get rid of it)...anyway riding season should open up here In about 2-3 months.Last summer i was involved in a hit & run(totaled my katana), nearly got killed(helmet saved my life) and I'm still dealing with my med. Insurance about fixing teeth that were damaged, I got out of work this morning and it felt really warm...so I got home and decided to gear up and take it out, the entire time I had a queasy feeling in my gut and felt extremely timid..exactly like when I first started riding sportbikes 4 years ago... I've been in a few wrecks, most low speed lay downs, and quite a few rough ones on a dirtbike, but I've always gotten back on ,yet I feel like just hanging up riding and sell the bike as I know I can get my money back..just seems like everytime I'm out ppl in cars are trying to take me down(perosnally feel stiffer penatlies should be enforced when getting involved in a crash with a motorcycle).

Just kinda venting I guess and wanna know some ppls opinions.

sounds like you want to ride, just ignore it:
-get the new bike together and this year take it more to a local club track.
-hook up with friends more
-stunt the bike
-buy some new better gear, safety jacket.

We're you 100% legal when you went out this AM?

Gun-shy maybe? If yes, you have good reason to be.

Yea I was legal...normally wouldn't carry Insurance in the winter ,but we were getting 50-65 degree weather In december and it was only $65 a month which I can swing easily, so I never called my Insurance company to cancel for the winter month, I would've liked to cancel It here in feburary, but my insurance company requires a 4-month off period, which is better than other companys who will just completely drop you unless you keep full coverage in the winter.

Believe I can't wait till mid-ohio opens up and I can unleash the gixxer on it(the S too).

The two guys I used to ride with were too agressive for me and I'm not exactly the most social guy either

I had bought a shoei helmet 2 weeks before the wreck, even had the lining custom fitted and it ended up snapping the chin area down the middle when I hit the ground, now I'm back to the ole HJC for awhile

I can understand difficulty getting back on the horse. A lot of people quit just because they saw enough accidents, not any of their own. I'd never put anyone down for figuring the risk was too high. Who knows, I may have to hang up my spurs some day.

Do a trackday or three instead.

Its you. No one is trying to take you down. As far a penalties, go...... I feel your opinion on the matter is rediculous. You assume the additional risk of injury when you ride your bike. It's something you conciously do. Deal with it or don't do it.

Personally, if I'm in a four wheeler I always try to give a biker some extra room, keep an eye on their postion, etc. Many others do the same. No one, however, is obligated to. It's your risk, not theirs.

Ride safe.

But people are obligated to drive safely and SEE you, just as they are obligated to see pedestrians. And many don't so it sometimes DOES feel like they're out to get you and there should be stiffer penalties for any vehicular injury -- car, bike, or pedestrian. There are plenty of examples of a cheap failure-to-yield ticket after killing someone. How about at least a couple months of license suspension?
