Default Getting down to one car. XLR?

Having just bought a condo I am down to one parking space, and its on the street. Right now I have 4 cars and would like to consolidate down to one. (Cars are in storage $$$) I pay about 1200$ a month to feed and keep insurance on all of the cars. If I sold them off I would have ~40K in my pocket free and clear. Back to square one. So I was thinking just get one car for everything, going to the office, and weekend vacations.

I love all my cars but because of work I have no time to take the Cobra to the track as much as I would like and the 308 and riot are just sitting in the garage finished but never driven.

I want a convertable cruiser, good power just not a full out sports car. But it must have a hard top option, or a power hard top and be able to carry a few bags for a weekend trip. Think pulled back a little from the NSX. I also have to drive it through traffic ~30 miles a day so a automatic is not ruled out. Also trying to keep insurance/payment/tires/gas under say 1200 a month with 20K down. I like to buy used so that opens a lot of doors.

First choice was the XLR, sticks out, nice options, big caddy engine. Has anybody seen a longer owner review of this or driven one themselfs. Used around 60K

Prowler with a hard top was first choice but not enough truck space. SL500 is just to much money for me to spend.

Drove a thunderbird and liked it, but not enough power. Still on the list. 25K cheap option.

M3 convertable is in line, possible a targa 996 if I could find one under 60K used.

Partial to the new boxter S but the cloth top kills it.

SC430 back seat area for extra storage. Pull off the run flats it would be better. About 45K used.

So looking really at XLR vs. the SC430 vs. ? 911 with a hard top.

Anything else I should be looking at or that you would suggest.

Go with whatever you can get a better deal on. XLR is a rare car around here.

If I was you my order would be, 911, SC430, XLR

My dad owns an SC430 and has for about three years now and I personally think it's a great car. If I were you, I'd test drive one and see if you like it. If it were mine, I'd be quite happy to drive it everyday.

PS- The runflats suck, getting new rims (stock ones are uglyyyy) is a must, and the backseat is only functional if your backseat passengers have no legs.

I am really thinking about that actually. Living in San Diego through there are a lot more people with a lot more time and money who will snatch them up and are willing to pay the premium.

I have not driven the XLR or the SC430 yet but I am going to try to get to a dealer who has a used one. The 911 is more sports oreinted that I would like and they are like belle buttons out here, everybodys got one.

Anybody got a clue what I can walk out the door on a new XLR for, or a new SC430. The local dealer has 3 on the showroom, including one in the real light wedgewood blue that I really like, and they are a chevy so you can;t rule out discounts.

I'd go for the M3 vert but I'm a little biased. It will outperform the others and be more comfortable than most except for the SC430 and possibly the XLR. It has a usable back seat and it's the safest of the bunch.

I find your choice of a Prowler to be funny, cuz it's so ugly and odd, not to mention underpowered.

All of the listed ones are good, but just between an SC430 and XLR, I'd go with the SC. I've driven it and ridden in it, and it's oh so smooth and comfy. It's like a moving lounge chair.

I like it, they are actually a lot of fun to drive albeit slower then the rest. Also they stick out like a sore thumb, and I really like cars that stick out.

Thats is why I am leaning towards a XLR, you never see them. They are a american car with a steller looking body, at least in my opinion. Also I am getting away from abject speed based cars, a little cruising and a softer ride to work is more important to me then .4 seconds on a track.
