What's your ownership experience in Texas with an S2000 like?

I know you had an AP1 and now AP2, but to live with/really get to enjoy? Lot's of straight roads, lots of high heat top up days, and do you think the A/C can keep up compared to the other cars?

My experience with the S2000 was that it wasn't bad to have the top up and A/C going because the cabin was small and cooled off quick, but nothing touches the legendary GM A/C for fat americans haha.
A/C is fine with both cars, though I don't enjoy driving the S2000 top up that much ex at the track. There are endless miles of great roads in the TX Hill Country, but they're not so exciting in North Texas. Around here, the Z is more fun and comfortable on the street, but will need a lot of work to make it as good on the track.
I know where to go in DFW for good twisty roads and I can show you them but I'll be on 2 wheels and you'll have a very difficult time keeping up

I'd love to be shown good roads in the area, either in person or online. If you don't think I could keep up, you're probably right. I save a good margin for error/shit happening, it's no longer worth the risk of me pushing my limits on the street.

You dodged a bullet. The E46 M3 is a maintenance-hog pig of a track car. Very overrated. E36 M3 is superior and much cheaper to make into a bad-ass track car. And why bother when you already have two cars that stomp the E46 M3, dollar for dollar, as a track car? C5 Z06 and S2000.

E46 M3 is by far the most overrated M3. Yes the looks are timeless, yes it has an amazing engine, but it was made when BMW began to shit the bed on reliability and costs so much to upkeep, yet isn't worth nearly that much in terms of the performance it brings to the table. Immensely overrated.

For track cars: E36 M3 > E92 M3 > E30 M3 > E46 M3

Good job, Chris, you didn't get burdened with someone else's maintenance nightmare.

You're probably right. A friend in Austin has both an E46 M3 and an E46 M3, and I drove them back to back Sunday. The E46 was nicer inside, but the E36 felt better behind the wheel and was surprisingly not that much slower (it had an M50 intake, CAI, tune, and headers). I've decided that if I was to get an M3 track car, it would be an E36 now.

The reason I was interested was for the added space to haul kid/mountain bike/tires, and b/c I could live w/ the stock seat w/ Shroth quick fit harnesses, unlike the Z and S which really need seats, harnesses, and at least for the S, a rollbar. I really want a closed car for a track car now, which is one reason I'm trying to move on from the S.
