Hellaflush car expelled from Quebec

Yes, the car is a POS. Yes, it's probably moderately unsafe to drive on the road, but should cars like this be completely banned from public roads?

The Surête du Québec intercepted this Ontario-plated Lexus IS 300 Saturday on Highway 15 near Blainville. According to the owner, Matt Brunet who lives in the Ottawa area, the police stopped him because of the “Hellaflush” look of his vehicle (stretched tires, high negative camber).

The officer informed Brunet that he had called for a second officer (presumably one more informed with regard to modified vehicles) to come and inspect the vehicle. Upon arriving, the second officer said he was not going to let him leave and that the vehicle would either be impounded or towed out of province. Obviously the second option was chosen and that put an end to Brunet’s trip where was going to attend the Low Level car show in St-Hyacinthe. His wheels are 18×9.5 and the tires are 215/40/18.

His shirt fits the situation nicely.

He's not hurting anyone. I don't see the problem.

Hellaflush is certainly dumb and not as safe, but I'm not sure this guy should be banned from driving the car on public roads.

Hahahahaha.

Wow, they must be really strict. I was expecting much worse, car doesn't look that extreme to me. What law is he breaking? Is it ride height? The sideskirts make it look lower than it really is.

While I generally have a problem with the government, well, governing in general, you have to have a complete lack of understanding regarding vehicle dynamics to think that the concerns are entirely unfounded.

Stretching tires that narrow onto a rim that wide is definitely dangerous to an extent, but then again normal people often maintain their cars in ways that are just as bad. If you're going to be this strict on Hellaflush cars I think it has to come down across the board.

High negative camber? I've seen way worse on stock cars.

Mental note: Don't drive any of my cars in Canada.
