A good helmet is one of the few things I refuse to buy over the internet. I want to try it on for fit before buying. I would rather support the local shops.

Why don't you find a local shop that sells helmets and see if they sell gift certificates?

www.helmetharbor.com is another

I second what scottrnelson is saying, tell him to try on the helmet he was to buy first before making the purchase.

helmetshop.com

Unfortunately, Arai doesn't allow mail order sales any longer, and they're clearly superior to everything else in sportbiking helmets (IMO).

I'll third what scottrnelson wrote, you also will need to figure out your brother's size before you get him anything.

Buying helmets is a personal choice, "must." Each helmet manufacturer seems to have models that suit one head shape better than another. Most people agree that among the top helmets, Arai and Shoei are among the best choices of the "quality helmets."Arais seem to fit oval shaped heads better, than say a Shoei. Shoeis seem to be a better fit for people with a somewhat rounder shaped noggin. It will be instantly noticed even when just in the showroom, but it really becomes painfully obvious after you've had the helmet on for an extended period of time.Be a good bud, and give the gift certificate!

That's interesting, because I have a more oval shaped head and Shoei fits me better than Arai. I finally stopped wearing one of my older Arai helmets because it was pressing too tightly against my forehead while still slightly loose at the sides. My Shoei RF-700 and RF-800 helmets are both excellent fits.
