Post HELP!

I bought a Durango a few weeks ago for the winter; I went to start it the other day and it started rough and the engine light came on. We had driven it to PA for Thanksgiving and everything was fine; I was going to take it in today and it wouldn't start. I was reading through the owner's manual and it says to use only 87(low octane fuel), I had been using 93; I filled up 3 times since I bought it. The manual said that using a high octane fuel could cause hard starting, hesitation, and sputtering. Does anyone know anything about this; would using a different fuel cause this problem?
The Durango is a '99 with 114,000 mi.
Please help.

Why can't he ask about a car in Car Talk? He's not in S2000 Talk. As for the SUV's problem, I think it'd be best to ask a Dodge mechanic.

Sorry, I just thought you all might be able to help; I have had my S2k for about six months and my brother told me about this website. I do not know much about car problems.
I do have a question about the S2k though; I need a new clutch and I read somewhere on here that someone had a carbon clutch installed versus a stock clutch.
Any info?

depending on how cold it is, the higher octane fuel could be the problem...fill it with 87 from now on and read your manual next time.

if the manual specifically says using high octane fuel would cause so and so symptoms, and you have been using high ocatane fuel and are getting the so and so symptons, then that must be your prob. like the poster above said, try using 87 from now on and see if your prob disappears.

What was the reason you were doing this?
