I'm no expert... but if it was your starter your lights and everything else would turn on you'd just hear clicking noises when trying to turn on the car.. This is from experience. All I can say is check the wires and spark plugs..... :::shruggs shoulders:::

I think I can definitely say the starter isn't the problem if the radio and lights won't turn on. Alternator sounds like a good guess. May not be charging the battery properly. Take it to another car shop since the first one didn't seem to find the problem and have them check it out.

Do you get any sort of sound when you turn the key to start it?

Yeah i forgot that one.. check the connections on to the battery sometimes they can be soo old and bad that it's not charging enough through the wires hence not giving the car enough to turn on..... OR could be connected incorrectly.

Thanks for the replies....

Yeah I think the starter is not the culprit.....

I also think the alternator is not the culprit...wouldn't the battery atleast drain slowly (it is BRAND new) instead of losing all it's charge overnight....

I checked the connections they are squeaky clean

Could it be the ground wire or something....I get NO sound when I turn the key..it is as if there is no battery in the car let alone an engine...

Have you checked the silenoid? Maybe the battery connectors on the car are corroded or is not getting a connection since you can jump start it just fine.

I am going to take the car to an electrical shop to see what is up...I think (almost positive) that there is a slow drain somewhere...is there a way I can check this at home?

I have removed the carpet so there are some wires that are exposed....
