Hi im currently looking for a uk spec car to buy. unfortunately there is nothing in my area buy a jap import. is there a reason why not to buy this car?

yes, definitively buy a jap import. Since there are no jap imports in your area, I suggest going on craigslist, there are tons of listing there.
the best way to entice a buyer is to email them offering more than the asking price to have them shipped the car to you. Usually a few thousands for their trouble will suffice. Bonus, tell the seller you're a prince or shiek whose family was overthrown and you have a few millions you just inherit. People love royalties and they love to give out sympathy.
try to use big and friendly words like "please have a very successful good afternoon to you mister sir"
