Default Honda of America and its employee racing program

Just came across this post on Usenet talking about the racing program Honda of America has for its employees. The link is:

That is why I always liked Honda. They go out there to prove what they can do and then not let the marketing people take that and showcase it. Honda lets their reputation speak for itself, not their marketing department. How many ads do you see from GM and Ford about their racing programs? Mainly NASCAR ads that have nothing to do with what they sell. What do you think they learn from NASCAR racing? Nothing. They are carbureted motors, specially built block and heads, crude electronic ignition, etc.

Honda presents itself as an innovative company that does not need to be a spectacle. Could they get more market share of they wanted. Yep, but that is not their real goal.

perhaps they are just marketing to people who think that they don't listen to their marketing departments...

It would be nice to see the S2000 in the ALMS, World Challenge or Grand Am Cup
