Hilarious. I like how a designer can come up with something neat-looking and dream up how it would work. We were supposed to have flying cars by now; where are they?

^If so, wouldnt it be more efficient to have one giant commuter system like rail, and have little bicycle like cars (on the ground) take us places?

Didn't people in the 1950's predict we'd be flying through the skies in GM certified "hovering vehicles" by the '70s?
A top speed of 350 mph?

Precisely! The flying car has been made, but it sucks in the air, and it sucks on the ground, and you need a pilot's license to fly it, and it takes time to convert between the two. They're talking about computer controlled units on a network zooming around inches from one another. When the FAA does it with jetliners, then I'll listen to someone talk about hovering cars.

Also, if someone made a hovering car, it wouldn't look that good. It would be much bigger and nastier looking.

In the quest for efficiency, how much energy is waster just producing the thrust to keep it in the air? Compare that to how much fuel is used to leave a normal car idling.

It's always been a cool idea, but it will never happen.
