Default How do you buy a car remotely?

I was talking with a friend today and we were discussing buying cars without seeing them, and it came to the question - how do you sign a title for a car if you are not on site to sign it? Is it even necessary?

How do you buy a car remotely anyway? Sign a Bill of sale, have it faxed back and forth, send the guy money, and hope the car and title show up?

the bill of sale is a contract that will hold water so long as you draft it right. Sure there is always a lot to be worried about with people that have complete disregard for the law and that are con artists but so long as you don't draft a bill of sale that is lacking and that inadvertently creates a crime of opportunity you should be good to go.

you know the saying, "Locks won't stop theft but they keep honest people honest."

there are companies that assist in this type of matter, or if you are buying from a dealership you should have no worries.

I would NEVER buy a car sight unseen. You don't know what you're getting yourself into.

Some people did this with houses in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's. Many of them were sorry too. I knew it was a stupid idea the first time I heard about it, but I also knew housing was going to collapse way back in 2002 and everyone thought I was the nutjob
