Default I give up...

so I finally got the client of all clients....somebody who wants a vehicle imported to the US, besides your standard show and display clause mclaren/xj220/elise 190.

This guy is obsessed with getting a 2005 Land Rover Defender, and all my contacts have turned up nothing. This is the first client that has completely stumped me. Anyone have any idea on how to get these things into the US?

If you import cars for a living, shouldn't you know how to go about doing it?

that's what I thought. This car is impossible, there's only one in the US, and it belongs to somebody with more money than God.

Before Mercedes starting officially selling the G500 in the US market, there was an importer that sold the grey market Mercedes Gelandelwagen here for years. They used to sell for well in excess of $100,000 here through the importer. Then MB started legitimately offering a US version of the G-wagen for $80,000 and kind of killed that grey market.

But the G-Wagen and the Defender are very similar vehicles and very similar situations. So whatever process was used for G-Wagen federalization would probably be close to what would be used for the Defender too.
