is it possible to destroy the valves in a downshift? I know alot of s2000 test drivers have f'ed up cars that way. I'm curious if anyone knows what happens to a rotary in an overrev situation.

I owned an RX8 for 2 months, it was a very nice car, but yes more coddling, very quiet inside and not all out sports, more sedan. Although it didn handle great!

Now that I own an S2k I know the differences more, the S2k is all out pure sports car, the sounds the feel the ride, I LOVE it.

And I LOVE the go-cart feeling when you turn, the car seems to turn so quick it feels like it's skipping. The RX8 leaned too much to give that feeling.

If you ever read the title of an RX7 in Gran Turismo, it'll call the car Efini. The rotary has the ability, according to the science behind it, to spin up to infinity. I think the only problem with an over rev in a rotary would be fuel cut. That is why the RX cars , well FD and the 8, have buzzers on their "rev limits", it gets to its limit soo smoothly you'd need the rminder to shift.

I didn't research this much. But i thought it had a 9000rpm redline. I drove one the other day that was an automatic and it was just a little shy of 8000. Is there a difference between the autos and the 6 speeds?

it might become fuel starved or the seals in each rotor chamber would be destroyed, and the rotors would lock up. The heat would do it. Just how having twin turbos and a poor exhaust/cooling system did the 13b in.

Does anyone know where all the bought-back RX8s are going? I bet you could get a heck of a deal on a slightly used RX8 with that whole buy-back situation going on. It's probably a unique situation in that there are probably more lightly used RX8s around then any other current new-model car. Anyone heard anything?
