Exclamation I'll take my FT-86 in Monkey-Butt Red...

Inspiration can come from just about anywhere, but sometimes you just don't want to (or shouldn't) share it with the public...

It is kind of genius for marketing purposes. It will be the first time, I know of, that people will talk about the color of a car. That will get it a lot of exposure in the social media sites....look what is happening already on forums and blogs.

Question, a bit unrelated, for those who were able to buy cars back in the 80s and very early 90s, were the ae86 corollas considered desireable like how th EGs and DC2s were for my generation?
I dunno, I've always thought that it was sorta of a small cult following, then initial D and the whole drift scene became mainstream and that's when people really got into the car. Seems like everyone I know who had a hachi (and I'm going pretty far back) bought their cars from non enthusiast folk, like older folk or college kids who saw it as a commuter car, not a basis for mountain road greatness. Cuz most folk in my generation were after the honda fwd cars, and I know age wasn't as much of a factor since a lot of folk wanted crxs and such.

I thought Honda's habanero red, based on the habanero chilli was kind of catchy marketing, but that was mild compared to Toyota's idea.

We usually butt-heads with the marketing people in our industry, but this was pure genius.

I'm not quite old enough to have been in the market then(I'm 31 now), but from what I remember cars like old Corolla's weren't very desirable. At the time it felt like cars like this(lightweight, rwd) would always be around, so there was no reason to search them out. Late 90's is when they seemed to gain in desirability if you ask me.
