Default Insight Receives another poor review

From what we've said so far, you might get the impression that we've taken Jeremy Clarkson's recent review of the Insight to heart, or that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Consumer Reports in our assessment of the Insight. Nothing could be further from the truth. We've just gotten a somewhat clearer picture of the Insight's faults and foibles after sampling it in the real world.

I'm surprised at the insight/fit comparison. It would take 12 years of driving 12k miles/yr at a gas cost of $4/gal to make up the price difference between insight and Fit sport.

I considered the Fit. The problem is that Vehicle Stability Assist is only packaged with navigation on the Fit Sport whereas it is standard on the Insight EX.

I believe VSA to be a must have feature. That adds an additional $1800 to the price of the Fit Sport. I would prefer to pay $200-$500 for VSA alone. I can't justify buying navi when my phone already provides navigation capability. Just something to consider...

Ive had VSA on several cars and thought it was completely worthless. I would opt not to have it on any car I own or be able to shut it off (which I usually did every time I fired up my TL Type S.

I remember the one time I forgot, I took a corner hard, it like braked for me and almost threw me into the rail.

Everyone's shitting on the Insight lately...geezus.

In retrospect, a Fit with Nav would've worked well for me too and I would've saved roughly $4k. Plus the NAV Fit model comes STANDARD with a leather wrapped steering wheel.

Fawkers.

VSA in my AP2 was great. Helpful in the rain and spirited driving. Not very obtrusive. The version in my G seems not as good. Good thing you can turn it off in both cars.

And relying on a computer to control the car.

I think its a great car for what its designed for. As usual around here, people have the "performance" and "enthusiast" slant on cars so something like a hybrid gets beat on. If I bought my Fit a year ago and I would but the Insight instead right now.

VSA a must-have w/ a whopping 100 or so HP? LOL!!!

Spend a small portion of that $1800 on learning how to drive.

that's the way I feel as well. Who needs VSA on a 100hp fwd car?

I must say I love my 07 fit, even if it doesn't get as much mpg as I was hoping, and is a lot slower is passing situations than I would like.

You just can't beat the storage capacity of these things combined with the fun factor and mpg.

As far as NAV goes, I couldn't really see buying a brand new car without it. May as well buy all the options you can, because it will be your car for a long time, and resale value helps when it comes time to move on.
