It's worth it if you have patience never to park it anywhere, always sleep with one eye open, and keep it in a vault. Did I happen to mention they get stolen every day almost?

I had a type r swapped Del Sol. Not a true type r by all means......but still crap loads of fun. And I was'nt as paranoid of it dissapearing. Good luck.

Any car that sells has to be worth it to someone, or the price would go down. The Type R is a great car, as uncompromised as anything Honda has ever sold in the US. Rather than just throwing more HP at it, they worked to reduce weight, improve stiffness and handling. It's going to stand as one of the best, if not the best handling FWD cars ever. And for performance driving, it was well and truly sorted from the factory in a way that is extremely rare for production cars. Mods and tuning could easily make this car worse rather than better.

Only thing about the value is that a lot of people don't really factor insurance into their car budget, and insurance eats into the same pool of money as fuel, maintenance, repairs, and mods. So you just have to keep that in mind. I would suggest getting an actual quote from your agent, rather than making assumptions based on things you have heard.

ITR suspension is better than the RSX-S (I've driven both in anger). IMO, it remains a high-water mark for front wheel drive racing.

How does the DC2 R's compare to the DC5 R's?

I know people convert them here in the states, but my main concern is the suspenions each has.

That may be a function of where you live, but in Seattle I parked my downtown and at the airport -- and out in Bellevue all the time. Never an issue. Likewise the guy I know in the midwest -- never an issue.
This friend of yours in the midwest who parks his ITR outdoors without issue... where exactly is he located?

I had a 2000 Integra GS. Insurance was $100 a month. On a GS!!! It was not a GSR or an ITR.... generation III Integras are in general expensive to insure because they have such a high theft rate.

How much is my insurance on my S? $105 a month. $5 more a month and I get RWD, top down bliss whenever the Kansas weather cooperates.

I get tired of the rice-boy mentality that Type R badges mean it is the end all of performance. I see an Integra every day. Most days the only S2000 I see is my own. I like that.

Sometimes I wish I had an 00-01 PY Type R in the garage with about 10K on the odometer just so I could see how much it will be worth down the road a few years.

just for a little contrast, about 2-3 months ago a local member had an entire ITR stolen from the Redmond microsoft campus.

In terms of handling, despite the wrong wheels being driven the ITR is more nuetral, has better shock valving and spring rates -- and better brakes.

Is the ITR worth it? From a financial perspective -- yes much more than the S2000, they are depreciating very slowly. From a functional perspective? Yes again, 4 people, room to haul stuff.
Sadly I barely ever agree with "SteveC Mr. I know it all" but on this one. The ITR is one special car. It was my choice before the S2000 but then the looks and drop top from the S2000 pulled me away from the ITR. I wish I can own one in white. Someday.

They are going to be classics I believe. The car was one heck of a hit worldwide. The RSX does not compare although its newer. That is MY OPINION!

I know what you're saying, but on the other hand, I live in Southern California, the "import tuning" capital of the world. In any given year, I see probably 5 ITR's if I'm lucky.

Yes, they are so rare that I have to guage sightings by the YEAR.

I love my S2k. We won't get into which car is better, because they're different beasts. But in a perfect world, I would love to have one of each .
