I'm pretty sure Soichiro Honda didn't "invent pistons" or piston rings for that matter. Interesting read nonetheless, kinda want to pick up a copy of the book.

 

If I recall correctly, his claim to fame was that he designed and manufactured long-lasting piston rings at a time when piston rings were practically a wear item. His piston rings were better than engine manufacturers were capable of making, and he then went on to start making his own engines (obviously).
