Thank You. I was speaking specifically about the one guy Chad who has I think 356 to the rear. Do you think he could beat a 600cc bike from a 40mph roll?
he'll probably beat it at the top end where the 600 tops out

The bike can't have been trying too hard - or the rider wasn't great - straight line no chance.

0-60 under 3 secs

0-100 about 5 secs

anyone wanna play?

We are talking about drag racing here? Blah.

I ran a best 1:25 lap time on my R6 at Summit Point, the best I ever did in my supercharged S2000 is a 1:28, I probably would have gone slower with another 300 HP as I would have peed in my pants.

A good racer on a 600 has run 1:16s, not many production cars are quicker if any.

600's can be wheezy if in the wrong gear, you could lose a drag race if you were out of the power band.

Now I rode a friends 04 R1 on Sunday in the mountains wholly fcuk that thing is fast. Way more power than anyone needs on windy back roads.

another one of these threads... honestly they are such a waste of time. its simple, yes bikes are fast, faster then most cars. but there is always someone and something faster. my friend has a 1800hp 03 cobra. he will rape pretty much any bike you want to line up too it. but who cares. HP doesn't equal skill and neither does straight line racing. all it proves is your car has more hp then mine. not that your a better driver.

In a straight line maybe, I'd like to see it try and get the power down effectively on a track

"HP doesn't equal skill and neither does straight line racing."

Well, you're obviously someone who doesn't drag race much. It takes a surprising amount of skill to run the formal 1/4 mile (or 1/8th mile) at the best your car has to offer. Try it sometime before you look down your nose at the skill required. The pace of driver improvement is not significantly different than for auto-x racing.

And even HP takes serious engineering skill. You're downplaying the effort required to create a 1800 HP '03 Cobra (I hadn't heard of any over about 1200 HP).

I do know what it takes to get the most out of your car in 1/4. i ran a 13.8 bone stock in my S which is considered to be a very low run, and it was no one time shot. it was very consistant. i have also done many track days and driven many high hp cars. and the skill level is no where near the same to push a car in a straight line then on a race track. my point by that statment was not to say people who drive 1/4 runs or like drag have no skill. my point was anyone can go out and buy a high hp car or build their car to have high hp and beat plenty of people in a straight line, especially when you are talking from a roll. the skill is pretty much erased. but not just anyone can drive a car fast around a track. And if the highest hp cobra you have heard was 1200hp then you don't research the cars much. Cobra's still using SC's combined with nos and other tuning parts where making well over 1200, now with the addition of many companies producing turbo kits the number's sky rocketed. My business partners first attempt with the twin turbo kit on race gas low boost and poor tuning made 1652 after raising the boost and having a computer specialist fly out from cali the car then made 1801 exactly. he was the highest cobra in the united states when it was done but now there is a supposed 2000+hp cobra in north florida but nothing has been confirmed.
