I know, I could have posted in the WDYR thread, but I'm just soooo excited about my baby I felt she deserved her own thread. Last night the owner dopped off an '88 Hawk GT with 15k miles, and I proceeded to take her out for a nice hour long ride. What a frickin' blast...
Don't laugh too hard - that butt-ugly paint job saved me about $800 - $1000 on the bike.
Yeah, I gotta get out the paint stripper one of these weekends and get those wheels / stands / headlamp fixed. Next will be a little Buell flyscreen, then I'll start putting the CF bits on and/or doing some repainting.

Yup. I have the original and am probably going to put it on this evening for a comparo - I'm really curious as to the difference between the two when riding, as a cursory inpection doesn't reveal much improvement.
Congrats, the Hawk is a great bike. I raced one a couple of years ago, and loved it aside from the fact that is was underpowered vs. the competition.
It's ironic that it was considered a failure on the sales floor, and now they're highly coveted...clean examples can go for almost as much as they costed new!
