Default Itty Bitty Cars

OK, I have the need for a small little car to just run errands or go to the grocery store.

Since I never pay attention to this type of car I have no idea what's out there. Can anyone tell me where to look?

Do any of them come with CVTs? It would seem to me that the CVT would be a good way to "maximize" little performance these cars have.

The SMART Car (or whatever it's called) was demoed at Mockingbird Station a few weeks ago, and we saw a few of them trundling around. I have no information on them from a technical standpoint, but they looked like something worth checking out if you have need for such a car.

Ah, here's their website:
http://www.smartusa.com/

$11,590 MSRP for the base model.
1.0 liter, 71 hp, 5-spd "automatic manual" (computer controlled clutch), 1808 lbs, 33/41 EPA, o-60 in 12.8 seconds.

I believe the Versa is CVT but ugly. Or is that butt ugly?

Not nearly as fun as a fit.

I've seen and driven the Smart Car. I don't understand why they call it smart as it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

So the Fit and the Versa are the little ones? What brands are those so I know what dealers to hit?

Any others? Like I say, the small cars haven't been on my radar at all.

Fit if you need the space, or Mini Cooper if you don't and want a fun drive.
