Dang, that thing dwarfs the Corvette!

I know in performance stats it's a sports car, but I'd buy it to fill the regular daily driver niche instead of an M3 / S5 / 911 Turbo... and get something light and fun to destroy on the track.

It kills me that this car performs so great and is so damn ugly. I still dont care what anybody says. My sources say the GT-R starts at $70,475. Add a nice fat gas guzzler tax, and whatever typical options Nissan wants to add and its at 80k. Thats before the price gouging. I can sure as hell appreciate a company that makes a big car handle like a small one though.

OMG, I know it's big, but looking at these pics makes it super big, sure it will have it's presence on the road.

Crap, that looks HUGE. I read they are about identical in size to the current Mustang.

Yeah, the current Mustang is pretty huge too. I guess I'm mostly surprised at how small the R34 GT-R is... I kinda assumed it was more of a beast. Funny how the styling of a car can be so deceptive (in both directions). Here's my list of other cars that I've been surprised at the real size of in person:

- Gallardo, tiny!
- pre-90s Japanese cars, miniscule... pretty much all smaller than today's Fit
- S2000, I still think it's hilariously tiny sitting next to other (non-Miata/Elise/Solstice) cars
- FD RX-7, looks like the Batmobile, but it's frickin' small (which is cool)
- RX-8, similar... it's long, but amazingly small overall

- Scion xB (new one), huge... seriously, look at one next to another car
- Z4, figured it would be S2000-like but it feels big sitting in it
- Mustang, chunky
- every current gen BMW, enormous compared with 2 generations ago
- 1-series, okay I haven't seen one, but has anyone noticed that it's taller than a 3-series? buh?!
- Prius, practically a minivan
- CRV, somehow I had this notion that it was just a bit tall, but it's massive
- Camry, as big as it looks in pictures, seriously... it's colossal

It seems like outside performance cars, most cars are drifting toward this average largish, tallish, not-quite-SUV-like shape. Small cars are larger and taller, SUVs are smaller and more car-like. I think Nissan was the first to really "get" this, coming up with like 2 platforms that underpin almost all Nissans and Infinitis (GT-R notwithstanding).

It's funny you may not realize how big a car is unil you look at the dimensions such as the Camaros were similar to length and width to a previous gen Land Cruisers.

I think the 911 is not as small as people think, I believe it's as long as a Corvette (maybe longer).

I read the GTR is about 9 inches longer than a 911 turbo. I imagine it's similar to a G37 coupe in overall size.

The GTR is fairly heavy being 38xx just 700 lbs less than the MDX (what I consider a large-mid SUV).

GTR 38xx lbs

Rav-4 V6 AWD 36xx lbs
Sienna fwd 41xx lbs
MDX 45xx lbs
