So far, it feels like it's going to be a lot of fun!

sweet bike! ktm ftw! i love their dirbikes, but thats the extent of my experience with them.

personally, i like the new ducati hypermotard. thats the route id go if i wanted a supermoto.

edit:

i noticed your other thread about the ducati hypermotard, where you said you were on the list for one.....

what made you get the ktm instead of the ducati?

Long story, but I had plenty of time to look around while waiting for the HM-S to arrive. First off, the SD is a street-fighter styled bike, not a supermoto. KTM makes a supermoto that competes w/ the HM, but the SD is my favorite street KTM.

Some of the factors that favored the SD are:
- bigger tank/longer range
- I don't like the HM's fold out mirrors that are vulverable to damage and $400-500/side to replace
- Motorcyclist mag BOTY and resoundingly positive mag/owner reviews
- underseat storage
- more comfy for longer distances
- discounts vs. MSRP and 0 down/0 pmt/0 % int. through June '08
- much more power
- better parts availability (Ducati stocks all spare parts in Italy)

I swapped w/ my buddy's HM yesterday, and am not confident I made the right decision. The HM is a really cool bike, but the SD is the better fit for my needs.

Sweet bike - I've wanted one since I saw it as a concept.

Thanks, Steve. I'll be out of pocket much of the next 3 weeks, so posting pics isn't going to be very feasible. If you send me your email addy, though, I can mail some more....or you could find a recently completed auction on EBay for it. The seller was a KTM dealer in Tucson, AZ.
