no, I'm pretty sure they have always used carbon extensively, to clarify I didn't mean the entire frame was carbon, but it is used extensively throughout.

I agree! Take it from someone who has totaled a car on a curb. Literally a curb. Engines sit low in the frame. My oil pan was ripped off and block was done. Im sure his oil pan is toast too not to mention cracked block or tranny.
