They roughed up that nose big time and those Euro tails are played out and god awful. Mitsu has big reliability issues. The Evo's tranny is made of glass. The Rex is going to beat it down, but then I'm partial as my brother has a Rex.
If it were my dough, and it may be, I would pay out for the STI.

I think they already added a wide body to the car compared to the regular Lancer we get here in the states.

Ya know, while watching the product release hoopla video (posted elsewhere on s2ki) I was wanting to get excited about the EVO. And although the specs are impressive and I'm sure it's a blast to drive, I just wasn't feeling the body styling. I kept thinking that if an S2k-esque (read: sexy) body style was rotating there on that stage I'd be much more excited. I don't see it turning many heads besides tuners and rally fans.

how lame!

Where else can you buy a car with awd, seats 5, has brembo brakes, 271hp, 273lb ft of torque for $29k? Even the S2000 is $4k more expensive. The S2000 clearly looks better but the Evo is just awsome for performance and potential mods.

There are always some people who will not be happy with anything, and will whine endlessly no matter what (see some at www.evolutionm.net).

You can complain all you want since you have no intention of buying, so whine away.

edit - what is the S2000 at $33k? I would have to think it is WAY WAY overpriced in your eyes.?

Anyone have any idea what one of these will weigh?
I remember hearing 3250lbs, if that's the case that would put the power to weight ratio at 11.99, the s2k is 11.7 and the Z is around 11.1-7 (depending on model weight).

From a roll all three wil be close really close. The 5spd in the evo may cause it to be slower at really high speeds.

AWD takes about .5 to a full second off of 1/4 mile times

Check out the Vishnu Stage 0 WRX's for refrence.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread...threadid=287491

check www.vishnutuning.com for more info on the kit.

3085 w/ 280hp = 11.0 power to weight ratio, they are running low to mid 13's at 97-100mph

Stock for stock, the us EVO will loose to a stage 0 wrx. So it will probably be mid to high 13-s at 95-97mph.

Check the old issue of SCC for a compairasion of the stage 0 to JDM EVO. The evo kills the wrx but that evo is making way over 276hp.

I'm not saying it's bad, I think it's really sweet. With some minor mods it will be really fast.

this one is not bad, but i like the EVO VII much better. I wouldn't mind paying MSRP for this car, it even has leather. Delete the moonroof for added weight savings!

As to the S2000 being overpriced at 33k, It is I got a brand new one for 31k.

Even at MSRP, look at the price increase of any model of car when you add the drop top 3-4k easy. Along with that normally they add weight to the car (makes it slower than it's coupe counterparts).

The s2k is within 3-4k of equally as fast cars without drop tops, and it manages to hang with them.

Take the EVO add leather and a 6spd, chop the top, and take out the 2 rear seats (use the weight you saved to add reinforcing to the frame) then we can talk. Until then apples and oranges.

You sound like an RSX owner compaining how overpriced and slow the miata is.
