Default leathers

new leather jacket-
great jacket, but it seems a little big. mainly shoulders (o.k. guess its time to hit the gym!)
afraid that the next smaller size would be too small-

i assume that it should be snug, but not too tight

how should leathers fit for riding?
(how does yours fit?)

Depends on what style of bike you are riding.

I typically like mine a little loose in the summer time and snug in the dead of winter so, I size myself then (in the winter) by putting on whatever I think I'll be wearing under it when it's snowing. If it's nice and snug but still gives me the room to fold my arms, it's good to go. The other advantage to sizing in the winter is that you are typically fatter (around Jan/Feb) so you can size a jacket that will fit year round. You don't want it so loose that it flaps because that hurts like hell after a few hundred miles. That's for the Rocket III which is an upright cruiser. Sport Bike you may want something even more snug (as long as you don't have a fat roll that is going to pop out).

The big problem with sizing on bike gear is that every company is drastically different when it comes to boots, helmets, pants, chaps, jackets and especially gloves.

I always buy online but I go local first to try things on and find the brand and size that will work best for me.

i get something tight(jacket, pants or suit) when i buy leathers (unless i get something used), it feels better when they break in of course.

when weather gets too cold i just wear sweatshirts over my leathers (thats what i did for my trackday when it was raining) lol.

yea best bet it to try it out before u buy... i remember when i was shopping for my suit i tried on this alpinestars suit (shit was super tight, but it fit) i asked them if they got one size bigger and they told me its perfect size for me and told me to sleep in it to break it in haha.

it all makes sense tho... u dont want leather burns... (ill try to look for this picture of my friend with leather burn after crash...)

My leathers fit a bit on the snug side without being uncomfortable..Too loose and the armor can rotate and you can loose it's protection..

Definatly not tight enough to restrict movement.. try hopping on a bike with it on before you buy..

-make the decision leathers inside or over the boots, its got to work somehow.
-the ass is baggy.
-get the fitment necessary for how your body will be on the bike
-best situation the pants zip to the jacket all the way around.
-room for a back protector
-get lite colors if the summer heat is bad
-pay for what you get... lots of seams to come apart, zippers stop working

How do they fit when sitting on the bike in a riding position? 'Cuz that's all that really matters.
