This is still a ways off for me but it is helpful to see others thought processes and what they have considered.

I also just discovered the 2016 Chevy Z71 Silverado which is a pretty bad ass looking truck. It is just gigantic. But I think it would more than fill all my needs and give me room to grow if I wanted tow something.

I would have to disagree. The prices are not similar in the configuration that you want. A Silverado, crew cab (four doors), 4x4, is already 39k; according to the website. You can get the Tacoma TRD OR, comes with lockers, crawl control, OR suspension, 4 Doors, short bed for around 34-35k. If you don't need all that, you can get a Tacoma, double cab, 4x4, v6 for around 31k. It may be "less" of a truck but it's a hell of a lot cheaper and fulfills your requirements.

Reliable
4 doors
4x4

Also has a really good resell value. This is a biased opinion though. I have a Tacoma, lol.

If we talk towing. I think the Tacoma's max is around 6500. Not very good at towing.

Manga the Chevy may be a good option, but im thinking if your going to be hauling 4 people, its because your intending on going somewhere, which means your going to need to park it. Keep that aspect in mind when thinking of the most practical use scenario around the city. 4 doors adds some serious length on a pickup. I dont see why a current incarnation of the Tacoma couldn't haul the weight of an s2k and trailer, and it would at least make your life easier for 99% of your other use the way I see it. I would probably shy away from hauling a car/tailor in my 1st gen 4 cylinder Tacoma, but the new version with a v6 is quite a bit more able. But then of course you've got a v6 to maintain and deal with, which isn't as ideal as an inline 4. At that point id just say go for a v8 truck (whats 2 more cylinders and spark plugs you cant access) but then comes in the problem of size/parking again, since they dont really make any mid size v8 trucks anymore, at least with 4 doors.

7000 lbs towing with a Ridgeline? Nope, nope, nope.
What is the OP towing? Nothing. Not listed as a requirement. Maybe learn some reading comprehension.
Right you are - it was Legal Bill that mentioned that, not the OP. My bad.

wait for reviews of the new ridgeline. Like everyone else said, sounds like a perfect house crap hauler and go to the mountain truck.

Parking a big full size truck can be a giant pain in the ass.

I'm looking for a truck as well. If I could buy any truck that wasn't a diesel, I would be buying a new Tundra.

I'd also like a 06-07 LBZ duramax. I just can't justify spending that kind of money on a 10 year old truck. It's also hard to find clean ones still.

In said case I'd just buy a Tacoma and be done then.

I know Ram has a 1500 eco diesel now. Not sure anyone else has small diesels in full size trucks yet.

I had the same thought - towing was never mentioned.

seriously, are you guys all a bunch of wimps that got used to driving go carts around? Full size trucks are NOT difficult to park.

And the Tacoma may be a reliable truck, but they are HORRIBLE to drive, get shitty gas mileage, can't tow squat, are very uncomfortable and don't have nearly the space of a full size truck.

Plus, just do some shopping around. Full size trucks can be had with some serious incentives that get them into the price range of the mid sized trucks. Just this weekend the LA Times, some dealership was advertising the Colorado for 26k (or something like that) and the full size Silverado (with four doors and a V8) was advertised for 27k.

I have other options for parking in downtown so thats not going to be a seriously limiting factor. Looking I do see some Tacoma's for around $35k which isn't bad. I'll have to go test drive some of these and see which one I like. I still think I like the idea of the smaller truck but considering I can get a full size 4 door truck for $35k as well I question what is better. On one hand the smaller truck is easier to live with but the larger truck has more space and room to grow should I want to tow something or haul a larger load. I dunno. The good news is there is plenty of time to research. It is interesting hearing what others have done or looked at.
