I read somewhere that the engine can go from idle to redline in less than a half second. Thats fast.

You wonder a bit what they could have done with another .5L. Given the performance of the GTR, you'd figure if they had a 5.3L or more. I know the redline wouldn't be 9000 RPM, but this car's performance while incredible should be superior to the GTR's at the very least in acceleration. Just for reference compared to a Porsche Carrera GT, the Lexus is 3,263 lbs (vs. 3,000 lbs for the GT), it has 552 hp (vs. 612 hp for the GT) & 354 lb.-ft of tq (vs. the Carrera GT's 435 lb.-ft). Though the Carrera GT "only" had a redline of 8400 RPM on it's 5.7L vs. the Lexus 4.8L. Just wondering.

In an LFA, I honestly couldn't give a flying f-k less about what another car could do or what more it could do. At that level, it really makes no difference.

In pretty much any car you have comparison's with comparable cars. It's well & good until the guy in the GTR goes nose up with you (& that is the 2010 version, the 2012 will probably have a significant advantage) or the Ferrari 458 or Lambo Superleggera or Porsche Turbo S will probably have superior performance. By itself in a vacuum it's a great car, but with cars that are at a similar price range, or even far less that are giving you the same or better performance, that's not good. It has the sounds, it has the looks & 10 years ago (when the concept came out) it would have had the performance, but the market has made some monumental leaps in performance.

Yeah I'd take the GTR all day over this and save the extra $, or buy a f'in house with it!

I will say, with an aftermarket exhaust the Lexus would be something to hear. I could imagine running it through downtown, at night, at full song, between the buildings. You'd scare the living shit out of people just like the Porsche video.

lol @ aftermarket exhaust. As if Lexus was concerned with "keeping it down" with the LFA. Please.

I don't expect there is too much left on the table with this car. They likely wrung every last HP they could out of this motor. And comparing a GTR to this car is stupid as well. It's like comparing the personalities of the Queen of England with Lindsey Lohan. There is just no point. If all you're doing is looking to win a drag race, there are far better ways to do that then spend $300k on a Lexus. Folks on an S2000 forum should know this better than anyone.

"$35k for a 4-banger?!!? I'd take Bubba's 1998 Z28 Camaro and beat that thing all day long for 1/4 as much"

I finally saw my first LF-A in person last night, and I must say it looks amazing. Pics don't do it justice! I'd prefer to keep my house over buying one, though.
