from what i read and from what i remember, the next generation a4 lineup(a4, s4, rs4) is supposed to receive a brand new chassis setup since audi's been using the same chassis for the a4 series for generations now. apparently, it's supposed to be ways ahead of it's current platform.

i think the audi reps were offering you that deal just because its replacement is around the corner. i'd hate to purchase the last generation model and find out that the newer generation kicks a$$. but supposedly, the next rs4s are gonna rock. i think i read about it in an older "motor trend" magazine and on edmunds.com/insideline. good luck. it's a gorgeous car. you may also find some good info at 6speedonline.com.

this month's issue of sports compact rated those three cars in the following order:

1) c63
2) M3
3) RS4

IMP, when the prices get that high, i'd go with the one i really want. they're surely all great cars and fast but if the RS4 is the car you want, go for it. i'd go with RS4.

 

My order goes...M3>C63>RS4

 

There is no next generation RS4 for the forseeable future.

There is an RS6 that's testing on the 'ring.

The next generation S4 will be pretty close to the current RS4 (like the last M3 and the current 335). But that won't be available for months and will be ~$55k+.
