[QUOTE=[DT]Yeah, being able to get them in *without* having to lean over is _much_ easier.

I wonder how many people have kids between the age of 5 and 8 in which this new law will make them have to buy a bigger car? (We do not plan on having any more children) but this law means that if we have another child in the next five years I will have to buy a bigger car; as I can not fit a third child seat in my audi. Whereas before, once Jack was five he could have squeezed between the two child seats in the middle.

-- I do not want a bigger car or another child... I hope that IUD works this time. haha.

....I don't want to steer this thread offtopic... I'm just rambling -- I will shut up now.

Just so no one is confused... I think the new child seat law is a Texas only thing.

Yeah, in TX the age for a child seat is now 8 or like 4'9" in height (from a previous requirement of 5 I believe).

I may have missed it, but why not trade the Ridgeline for a Pilot? Get a small utility trailer for your bikes and you're done.

I love the Ridgeline. Have done the trailer thing, and it's a PITA. My HOA prohibits keeping them in the driveway, so I'd have to store it elsewhere. I used a hitch-mounted rack for a while w/ my Avalanche, but even that was more trouble than I liked. Nothing I've had so far beats the RL for motorcycle/gear hauling, Honda designed it w/ that in mind and it shows. I also like being able to haul oil for recycling and other dirty stuff w/o worry about soiling a nice interior. Ironically, the Pilot doesn't get me all that enthused. I realize it's very similar underneath, but there are a lot more options w/ SUV's than w/ pickup trucks.

John, I agree that 4 cars/trucks can be somewhat of a burden at times (mainly when I pay the ins. bill 2x/yr., all are owned outright), but the RL and MX-5 aren't going anywhere. If Alice would take over the RL, I could turn the M3 into a DD and sell the Jetta. She still loves the Jetta though, and while I've thought about selling the M3, a quick romp in it usually changes my mind.

The new law won't impact us for a long time, and no way are we having 3 kids - maybe one more, but I suspect we're done.
