thanks for the input fellas...i must argue a bit by defending the E46 as by no means being obsolete in a year...as hinted by last post. just as the E36 took a backseat to the E46 when it was released, the 46 will do with the 92...but that doesn't mean they're no longer amazing cars.

I guess I'm justifying my 46 purchase over a 92....time being no factor and money being somewhat of a factor. If the 92 were out tomorrow, I'd still get the 46. I plan to track and autocross this car regularly. It will be caged, with seats and belts immediately..beyond that and tires, I probably won't do much.

I'm with ya. I couldn't care less about having the latest and greatest. A good car doesn't suddenly become any less good just because a newer model roles off the production line. Hell, I'd still love to own an E30 M3.
