Oddly enough that car wasn't made by Mazda. It was commitioned by Mazda and made by Swift in California. This is the same company which originally made it's name in Formula Ford with the DB-1.

I thought it uses a Courage C65 chassis. (Used by Mazda for their actual ALMS car two years ago.)

Loved that article! Somehow I'd missed it on Apex. I would love to see that same testing done on a car like the DB6 bodied Swift SE3 I raced for several years. With front and rear wings, wider tires, and 148+/- hp it was certainly faster. Reading that sure makes me want to get behind the wheel again.

I also love the looks of the Furai.
