This was the April 2002 issue. It was the old AMG's, not a lot of the "new AMG's" are out yet. The SL55 is, but the E55/S55/CL55 are not. The SLK 32 & ML55 stay the same. The E55 was the old 349 hp, it pulled a 13.46 to the M5's 13.08. I guess we will have to compare the new E55 to the new M5 coming out (500+hp). The CLK had the old 342 hp, but the new CLK 55 that hasn't come out yet will have the 362 hp engine.

 

I read that article too. I can't remember but I believe it was R&T. The M's were almost always faster, handled better and cost a lot less. And IMO they have the a sportier look then the AMG's.

 

While the M's do have a sportier look I think I like this AMG better because it looks like it could be grandma's car. I love a sleeper.

 

How do you think the C32 stacks up?

 

It was Motor Trend. I think about the only AMG car in the comparo that I would've rather had was the SLK 32 vs. the M roadster. I personally would rather have an M3 than a C32. Jusr personal opinion. Though the new E55 may change my mind from an new M5 to new E55. Even if the new M5 has 550 hp it looks like it will fall victim to the "Bangle Mangle."
