Which Miata would you rather drive?
I wouldnt drive a miata because to me there not a good looking car. They look to happy with the smile front grillie, there just too slow not that the s2k is fast or anything but it feels like a turbo jet comparerd to the miata and way to many old ladies have them. One time i saw like 4 miatas in 10 min
but to stay on topic: I'd go with the MS mx5 for the curvy roads and the new mx5 for cruising around.
No I understand they are serious cars on the track, well balanced and the perfect autox monster. That still dont take away form the fact they look like a little happy smiling face car, and 90% of there driver are old men/ladies.
I've always had a soft spot for the NB Miatas because I used to own one. It was a fun car to drive, more fun than the S2000. I define the car as fun because you can toss it around and it just goes where you point it. If you get careless with the S2000, it bites you back very hard and you might find yourself facing the opposite direction that you were intended on going. That isn't the case with the Miata. The Miata is lightweight and based on a simple recipe that works. The S2000 is a great car, but it lacks some of the appeal that Miatas have. Most of the people here who make fun of Miatas or tell themselves they would never own one have never driven one hard; especially the MSM. There's something really fun about owning a lightweight turbo roadster from the factory that doesn't run into any problems at all. I've seen a lot of street tuned Miatas go under 2:00 at our local track: Buttonwillow. They're quick little cars.
However, as much as I love the Mazdaspeed Miata, I would probably pick the NC Miata because it is easier to live with. The 7700 RPM redline is high enough with a smooth powerband that never doesn't get tiring. The car also isn't as claustrophobic as the NB. The interior is much better than the previous generation and little improvements made it a great GT-style ride for my daily commute. I've actually considered trading in my S2000 for a newer NC with the retractable hardtop.
Here's a picture of my old Miata:

It had the FM butterfly brace (no more shakes and added torsional rigidity), Hard Dog Roll bar, Tein Flex Coilovers, OEM hardtop, Flyin' Miata exhaust, Flyin Miata HFC and midpipe, SSR Type C's, APR GTC-200 wing (not shown), and some other things here and there I forgot. The car weighed in at 2450 lbs with everything on there (and stock rims at the time.)

I own a new NC. It's a grand touring with all the options. It's an ok daily driver. However it does feel slow. Any miata well feel slow after an s2k. But the NC looks newer than the na/nb, has a much nicer interior, stereo, Bluetooth, etc.
If I was buying a used roadster I would get another MR2 Spyder. They are more rare, look much nicer, get better gas mileage, and handle great.
