Default Most easily adaptible car to all forms of "racing"

So this is another one of the many car choice threads. This one is a little different though, this year I got involved in autocrossing, got a little taste of HPDE's. I want to continue these but also increase my, range?. I want to try drifting as well. So I know the requirements for cars that drift and road race are totally different. But for a beginner, to try and get a taste of both, what cars do you think would be up to the challenge? I love s2000's but as everyone knows you can't really drift them without doing major modifications.
SO what do you guys think? It would also be driven a lot as I drive my cars a lot. think 35k miles a year and so has to have some sort of degree of reliability.

350Z? 240sx? rx-7 (3rd gen ) ?
Should I try AWD? subaru?

Thanks guys

Not going to get much drifting done in a Subaru; unless you have a Ken Block sized budget. With a 240sx you can throw reliability out the window (I'm a long time owner), RX-7's aren't bad if you can get one that's been re-built or has been taken very good care of, and everybody loves the Z33.

Of the choices you listed, I vote Subaru (and forego drifting, it isn't that great) or Z

2nd gen (FC) rx7's aren't bad either. Pretty competitive and a lot easier to work on than an FD..they aren't quite as finicky either so your pockets don't need to be as deep.

Mustangs. They aren't out of the box as refined as some choices but they are cheap and lots of people use them for lots of types of racing. Lots of knowledge out there.

Vette is probably the easiest to do all kinds of racing (except rallying) as it is relatively light, powerful, has high performance limits, and is pretty reliable.

A 350Z is probably the next best choice for overall reliability and performance, though an RX-7 is probably the quicker car in most scenarios.

ANY rwd sports car will do. Just put the proper tires on and off you go. They're all equally "easily adaptible" in that sense. Heck, you can even just keep the factory tires on if you want, except that if you cord them you might have some difficulty on the drive home. I dunno about the drift world, but most newbies in HPDE are on street tires, and there are specific street-tire classes at most autocrosses.

Corvette, S2000, Miata, 370Z, 911, M3, Elise, Mustang, Solstice, etc. etc. They'll all do what you need. (I personally am a big fan of the S2000 because I think it's an excellent combination of purchase price, performance, running costs, reliability, and sheer fun-to-drive.)

Wha? I never had any issues with my S13 or S14. My RX-7, on the other hand...

I'd go S13 for sure.
