Default Motorcycle insurance at age 18?

I am moving to Florida away from my parents in a couple months after my school semester ends and will be living with my cousins. Looks like I'm giving away my s2k to my dad soon because insurance is killing me, $4k/year right now living in California under my dad's policy and quoted $7k/year under my own policy in Florida.

I received a quote from Geico for a 07 gsxr-600 and it is roughly around $100/month liability.
Yeah. Yeah. Full coverage is the way to go but I really can't afford it since I need the money for the move over there and my cousins are expecting rent. I will be working over there however, but I'm taking a break from college.

So I want to know, is that a good deal for an 18 year old turning 19 in the summer? What are your rates and how old are you?

Im not sure. This is kind of like beating a dead horse. Every area is different, My friend change address's within 2 miles and his insurance dropped 40 a month. Im 22 years old, and my 08 600rr is 75 a year for liability. I do 7 month full coverage and the other 5 liability. full coverage is only 594 a year for me through Progressive. I am in PA

Being old and married is a good thing. I'm 50 and pay $77 for liability and comprehensive on a 2004 VFR800 through Progressive.

I paid $185/year for liability only via progressive.com I'm 29.

I've got Lojack on my bike so I figured $500 one time was cheaper than $100/month for full coverage insurance - which never pays full replacement value for the bike from my experience.

Wow seeing everyone's rates makes me wish I was older... lol. Well my insurance did drop $5/month when I moved a city over

Guess I'll just get a motorcycle in Florida to save up some $$$.

I've got an absolutely atrocious driving record, and was quoted roughly $100/mo for liability + theft coverage on a Ninja 600. This was without my endorsement. I turned down collision. I wanna say the rate was actually $102.xx. I'm in AZ and have Geico.

I currently pay $35/mo for theft + liability on my modified '79 Suzuki GS550. If you don't already own the bike, I'd suggest thinking about something besides a GSXR for your 1st bike. Something like an SV or a Ninja 650R is going to be easier to learn on, and cheaper in every way.

EDIT: I'm 22, almost 23.
