is mugen still around, i've heard rumors that the company closed down

Yes...Check Kingmotorsports. But I believe they have changed their official name to M-Tec, but are still using their old name Mugen.

Mugen sounds better then M-Tec.

Mugen is still called mugen. M-Tec is some what of a corperate name i think.
