My guess is that Jaguar will be the next auto make to introduce an SUV. Thoughts?
Well, think about it. Nearly everyone already drives or wants an SUV. A large portion of the luxury automotive sector is going to SUV's. From full size Escalade ESV's and Lincoln Navigators to Land Rovers and more.
The new Cadillac SRX will soon be on our roadways. With Ford having Jaguar in it's lineup now, they certainly have an array of platforms to choose. They could use the Explorer platform and make a mid-size Jaguar SUV. Or perhaps an Expedition platform? Perhaps the Volvo XC70/90?
If Porsche lauched the Cayenne. . .
Think about it, there's no limit for the SUV market and folks are quickly wanting a more exclusive type of vehicle.
So, what are your thoughts on this? And before you share, realize that I am just as frustrated with SUV's being everywhere.

Most likely Jag will sell a SUV, but I think it's like the bubble stock market. Fools rush in (to grab the money) and in the end get burned.
The way I look at it, the SUV market is largely a USA phenomenon. If the US loses it's appetite for them, there will be so much extra capacity.
Luxury SUV's are probably way overpriced, the Aviator (a glorified Explorer) is priced near $50K. That's insane.
Anyway if Jag builds a SUV (hopefully) it will be built off a Land Rover platform. But that's not likely, so most likely it will be a modified Aviator/Explorer or Escape/Tribute.
I mean look the X Type got the green light that was a Contour dressed up, so a dressed up Explorer is possible.
I have a SUV as a 4th car, and will most likely keep it or replace it with a MDX or a Taureg. I don't hate SUV's but I think they are too trendy and like bell bottom pants they will go out of style.

Ford bought Land Rover in 2000, with their previous acquisition of Volvo in 1999, before that, they bought Jaguar 1990. So what do you mean now that Ford owns Jaguar, they have owned them for thirteen years. Also, if Jag did have an SUV, it would most likely be off the Land Rover platform, as that is a more luxurious vehicle then the Expedition/Navigator. Most likely, Jag will not get an SUV, as they are a British brand as is Land Rover. If you muddy the waters too much, all you do is end up with each brand fighting for the same customer base.
Honda did sell the accord wagon here for a while, but it did not sell well at all so it got axed. Also Nissan sold a Maxima wagon here in the US (believe it or not). Toyota sold a Camry wagon. They did not sell well. If they thought there was a demand they would sell them.
