My highside at NSS
Highsided at NSS in the novice group...GET HEALTH INSURANCE IF YOU GO TO THE TRACK!
I think it was a mixture of these things:
1) Trying to catch/pass the instructors too quickly
2) First time ever on a track
3) First time ever on the R6
4)First time ever really dragging knee
Turn 2. The turn i was dragging hardparts in.
Rear broke free. Went a whole ninety degrees, then caught. Flipped.
I remember being completly upside down in the air looking at my hands and thinking....man this feels really cool.............HOW LONG AM I IN THE AIR?!?!
Then as soon as I hit ground I started thinking.."I don't have medical insurance!"
I jumped up as soon as I hit and jogged back over to my friends that were standing by turn two and said "Please tell me you got that on camera". (Completely forgetting I had a camera on my bike still rolling) You'll actually hear in the video when I upload it..........."at least your camera is still on the bike". "WHAT!?!?!" (cheering)
And I doubt you'd be fast enough to freeze frame in youtube but if you time it just right you get this picture of me impacting the ground.

Overall the bike/gear held up really well. I need a stator cover and zip ties for the R6 and she's ready to ride again.

I'm very pleased with how the gear held up. A* FTW!!!

I needed a new helmet anyway.
And here is the video!

Chalk it up to an experience. I hope you can convince your insurance co. to pay for it. Some will.
Was this a school, or a track day? If a track day, take a school instead next time. Reg Pridmore's CLASS is the best, IMHO.
Just like any sport, there are some that are naturals, and can 'self learn'. Most of us, however, require a skilled instructor pointing out the mistakes, so you have feedback on what you're doing right, and what you're doing wrong.
I learned more in two days from Reg Pridmore than 20 years of self learning would have taught.
Not to Monday morning quarterback, but would simply offer this: Smooth is fast, fast is smooth. You now see how quickly these bikes will bite you when not smooth on the throttle.
Sorry about your go down. Glad you're OK. I give you credit for taking it to the track. Google CLASS.
