Pre-owned Cayman S , if you were to choose a new S2K though, I would have picked nothing newer than MY05 (just my opinion)

1) new TT
2) Boxster S - Cayman S
3) Elise- Exige

I'd narrow it down to those three (five).

My vote just tied the Elise to the Cayman S, sweet.

I like the way you think..... I've always had a love affair for the 993's, and have been waiting forever for the price to drop - as with the Cayman, hopefully there will be a good one within reason.
I have a soft spot for Porsches (have enjoyed our 944 for 15 years and counting ;^), but think you're mistaken if you're waiting to buy a 993 on price considerations......nice ones have already bottomed in their depreciation curve.
I also agree that a Boxster would be an excellent addition to your list, especially at the prices they are going for now
On the assumption that you're planning on keeping your next toy for a few years, I voted 993.

993 and Elise have collector's appeal. Personally, I'd look into getting a Vette since that is what I'm hoping to be my next car. I'm surprised that at these prices the NSX or M3 wasn't mentioned. Anyway, you got some decisions to make, a dilemma I wish I had.

You say "Weekend Toy". Exactly what do you plan to do on the weekends? Shows and pleasure driving? Track or autocross events?

Does it have to be new technology, light, and agile?

I am thinking of some beautiful classics and some heavy metal that you would easily fit into.

Ginetta G4 or Lotus Europa are nice but would require more maintenance than something new.

Of course there is deTomaso. A well sorted Pantera can be had for $35k to $50k. Don't even think about a Mangusta or Vallelunga. Those are expensive.

Cobra kits and Corvettes should fall in your price range.

993

The last air-cooled Porsche. Might actually get you something after 20 years. Besides, I am not a big fan of their new Cayman. I'd pick the Elise if someone swap its Toyota engine with ITR's.

To me... you already know what a roadster feels like... so the Elise and BMW are out of there... 993 too old... Cayman S... just perfect. Great handling and it can move and move fast... Cayman S has my vote.

If you have never had a porsche and you can afford one...get one. it is worth the experience. there is no other car you have mentioned except for the boxster S that would interest me sorry.....well....the S2000 would, but you have done that already.
