Default Need Car Talk's help! Buying a car...

So my wife and I have just sold one of our homes and I am making much more than I was this time last year with prospects to continue to stay at this income level (sales position) for a while (not trying to brag but justifying the decision to sell a paid off car). We have just paid off our 2005 Infiniti QX56 which we estimate to be somewhere around $20k in value and we are now considering selling the QX to make way for a new car. My wife does not like the size of the SUV, wants something smaller and would like AWD but I think I might be able to get past this one considering we JUST bought a BMW 335xi coupe in May. (which has been a lot of fun modding so far!!!)

For a long time I have had my eye on M5s but a dealership not too far from me (actually the BMW dealership that I bought our 335xi at) has a 2007 S6 sitting on their lot that they have had since we bought our car in May. I'm thinking about offering $35k on it and seeing if they take it. I'm looking at spending $30 to 40k on a car, would honestly prefer it to be a 4 door sedan but could possibly swing a 2 door with a big enough back seat (1 year old daughter) or another SUV but that's the last option. I want a car with performance, at least 2 years old to get the best savings on someone else's depreciation. Possibly certified pre-owned.

So far my list consists of:

07 Audi RS4
08 Audi S4
07 Audi S6
06 BMW M5
05 Cayenne Turbo
08 IS-F

Looking for suggestions.

Also, if you want to chime in with the "save your money" speech, spare us all. My life, my decisions. I have the other aspects of our financial future completely well taken care of.

One more thing, I'm dipping in to my Lambo Gallardo fund. This is something I am serious about getting one day as I think owning a Lamborghini is something any car lover should do at least once if he has the means. (Right Raj!?) Maybe the S6 will be a good intro to the Gallardo engine. Also, not looking to mod the car (I have my BMW for that which is well over 400 AWHP btw) so I'm looking for something with power that I can rock out bone stock and would prefer an import. So let's hear your suggestions!

p.p.p.p.p.s. My wife HATES the Mitsu Evo and Subie STI.

They are all good cars... RS4 seems to be overpriced always, but not sure about used ones. Go with IS-F.

I'm really liking the IS-F, found a few used between $35 to 40k. I will say though that I'm a little disappointed in the engine technology. It's just a 5.0 V8 with a red line below 7k. Nice displacement size but couldn't they tweak it to rev higher and have more output?

I do love the brakes on the IS-F though!

I like the M5 but I'm really starting to like the S6 a lot too. This video sounds awesome.

IS-F or E60 M5. The M5's V10 is worth the price of entry alone although the car itself is hideous.

Eisenmann exhaust = sex.

S6. Everyone and their mom has an M5 and IS-F, at least here in the bay.

RS6 is definitely a hot ride but the M5 can be had with a 6M - which oddly enough - is ONLY available to the US market!
