i know you've posted this before and even dinged me when i was looking to buy a car however i have a question maybe you can help me understand..
if i buy 5 carfaxes and have two left over after i bought a car why / how is this defrauding the company?
1 CARFAX Report for $34.99
5 CARFAX Reports for $44.99
how could this be different than say me borrowing your socket wrench? when you already paid for it or any tool for that matter..

"CARFAX offers you access to the Site and to the Content available on the Site solely for your own personal and non-commercial use. "
I guess you could call this personal and non-commerical. If you have an unlimited carfax account and you do carfax a lot of cars they'll cut you off.
yes maybe i will ask Erik
i only asked you because it seems you are always the one pointing out that it is against the rules..
Carfax seemed to have change the pricing structure so maybe the rules here should be changed as well-
again if i purchased 5 and used 3 they do not offer a refund so it would be a waste.
it seems that no one is asking for a commercial account to run 100s of s2k vin numbers but one here and there..

I'm with Bass on this. When CF was unlimited for a month then yes it wasn't OK to give CF's to everyone who asked. However, now that CF has a set number of uses it seems you should be able to give them away if you choose. I'm sure CF would rather we each pay $45 for their questionable research but still, Bass bought 5 searches and should have a right to use all five any way he sees fit.
BTW, I really don't like CF. They oversell what they actually deliver. I've seen far to much that wasn't well documented by CF.

If you (and everyone else) don't give this guy your leftover cafaxes, he'll eventually either buy one himself or the dealer will.
I'm sure Carfax has in their terms that the carfaxes you buy are only to be used by the original purchaser...
PM me your e-mail and I'll send it to you.
CARFAX isn't super accurate, but it gets the job done in most cases. If you're going to the lengths that you are willing to pay for a carfax, pay for a CLUE property report. It's cheaper and can uncover any time an insurance claim was made on a particular piece of property and the dollar amount.

I never understood the point of carfax, just get a mechanic to look it over, and if you got a keen eye you can tell if body work was repaired from an accident.
Never got one on my S, it's pushing 80k miles strong.

Because you're limiting other potential sales by Carfax.

From the Customer Agreement on the Carfax site: This 5 CARFAX Reports Plan is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase, and is intended for my personal use only. Commercial use, resale and redistribution of CARFAX Reports is strictly prohibited.I think this would fall under "redistribution". I don't find it very likely that Carfax is going to track you down for violating the agreement, but it is still part of the policy.
I also agree though that the information provided is of limited value, and the "buy back" guarantee is written in a slightly deceiving way to make you think it's something it isn't.
If you really think it's valuable and want it that bad though, then what's $35 when you're looking at investing thousands in a vehicle?
