Default Need a new DD...

I am in the market for a new ride and I am at a crossroads right now. I recently joined the Subaru family about a year ago when I bought a 2003 Rex Wagon. I now want to upgrade the Rex to a Legacy.

I am bangin my head against the wall on what to get. Here are the two options I am debating:

1. Get a 2008 Brand new Spec-B. This is at the top of my budget so I would not have much $$ for mods for awhile.

2. Get a used 2005-2007 Legacy GT Limited and mod it right away. Go stage 2, wheels, suspension, etc.

I am open for other suggestions as well. I am trying to keep my budget under $30,000 so tell me what you would do? BTW, my Bro works as a salesmen at Subaru so I can pick up a new Spec-B for about $29,500 OTD.

Thanks in advance for your input,

Brandon

I'm never a huge fan of blowing the budget out, but I would lean more towards the Spec B for the exclusivity factor - IF you keep it for a while. If you turn over cars every few years, I would buy the used Suby so you don't lose your shirt when you go to sell it! Both great choices!

I agree that blowing the budget out is not a good idea. That is why I am limiting myself to $30,000. I could afford more but I have a hard time justifying more then $30,000 for a car.

I don't think I'll ever spend more than $30k for a car unless inflation keeps growing at the rate it's at now...

Oh and New Spec B FTW!!

I bought an 07 turbo Outback station faggon. And while the car is great in most respects, it does have the somewhat common turbo stutter issue. They have fixed it with a reflash for the most part but now the gas milage is crap. I think I will fix the problem for good when the Cobb access port comes out.

There is supposedly a reflash that works on Spec B's if you get the stutter issue, but it can cut the power. I would recommned the Spec B only if you are sure you are going to go with an aftermarket tune because of the issues I have had an the complete unwillingness of Subaru Customer service. The dealers have been helpful, but once you get a "case number" because a deale r can not fix a problem to your satisfaction, don't ever expect to hear from Subaru. I got a case number a few months ago.

I thought my GM customer service was bad. At least they had the balls to tell me "we are not going to fix your problem." Suabru says "Eh we will get back to you..................." I expected more, but this inspired me to call and complain again, we will see what happens this time.
