Default new car

well the story is I need something more practical than the S2000, so i was looking around and its between a 4 door sedan/station wagon or a 4 door truck.

car: a Subaru legacy, Audi A4 or A6 avant or Acura TL-S
truck: Frontier Crew Cab or Toyota Tacoma Double Cab

a lot of people have been telling me go with the truck and i kinda see why... the versatility. but my question is for those who do have the trucks is how is it with baby seats, pets (border collies x2), passenger room in the back on road trips? etc.

also repairs and cost of operating vs. a car or station wagon. (but i guess that goes with what I get, cant really compare a toyota to an audi on repairs and reliability).

Im thinking if i get a truck well.... thats it. its mine and i am going to keep it till the end. (along with the S)

E39 BMW M5. Can find a near perfect one for 25K. 400HP, 6M, seats 5, huge trunk, RWD, drives well.

If you have to have a truck, something smaller, better on gas - Toyota Tacomas seem to run forever and be had as a four door.

check out the Subaru Outback (current gen, I have no experience w/ the old ones). Tons of room, 29mpg, very comfortable, SUV-beating ground clearance, low maint., good reliability.
