New Car (Updated with Engine Bay Pics)
torque curve flatter then your 5th grade crush's chest
That is a very elegant car, rarely see them out and about. This thing is... supercharged??
EastS2K, if your banging your head, i should be requesting a steam roller to run me over.
Bought my 01 in march 07 for 22K... it had 58K miles

Unfortunately, no. Forgot to take any. I'm also 150 miles from the car at the moment. I'm doing a co-op in rural South Carolina, living in a house on the edge of a lake with no garage or anything. Thus, it's a bug-infested, constantly wet car hell. I'm not going to subject my new car to that. As a result, it's staying in a warm garage at my parent's house. I could probably get my brother to take a few shots under the hood.
About the horsepower, 390 was a quick guestimate doing some awkward math with 323*20/17 in my head. It turns out to be exactly 380. Not a big difference to me.
$11.5 and 56,000 miles. Unlike the guy who found the S600 on Craigslist, I found a deal and didn't tell anyone about it. It was originally listed for $15 on Ebay, some guy asked the lowest he was willing to take and the owner replied that he had it listed for $12.5 on Craigslist. I checked Craigslist and it had $15. Turns out his wife changed the Craigslist ad to match Ebay. So I offered 11.5 and he agreed.
It uses the ESS package. It's got a custom aluminum intake and intake manifold, larger injectors, cams, and is running 8.5 PSI. I could get more power of it if I used their headers, but I'm satisfied for now. They also offer a stage two that adds an liquid intercooler. Headers + intercooler is good for about 40-50 hp according to their dynos (which the previous owner's independent dynos matched up perfectly to). Basically, there's still room for growth. Torque's increased 56% over stock and 8.5 PSI corresponds to .58 atm, so assuming the intake and intake manifold freed up the engine a bit as is, that seems like a perfectly reasonable efficiency.

Maaaaaan, what a great deal! I def don't blame you for forgoing the s for the z4, that is just a great deal. Man, but arent you worried about a modded BMW though? Ah whatever, still a solid deal that I'm sure will provide tons of fun for the money.
Have fun! I'm looking forward to more pics.
Great deal for a great car. Have you thought of flipping it and picking up a really nice s2000 and change? Although I love the Z4s shape I hate BMW reliability in general....
Anyway, be sure to stick around s2ki!

BMW engines are pretty solid. Even BMW detractors won't touch that. There were a few hiccups with the ECU, but the previous owner got them sorted out, and ESS is one of the most knowledgeable companies outside BMW when it comes to the Z4. So, realistically, I expect to have to replace supercharger components after 25-30k miles, but they're pretty cheap. Other than that tires are probably my biggest concern.
@ikeyballz: Nah, an extra 2k rpms isn't enough to make me give up 380 horses. I'm already addicted.
Very nice car, enjoy. But I still believe that BMWs (especially older ones) are a maintenance nightmare, my ex-wife and I had 3 of them, all fell apart over 70K miles, my motor blew at 100k in my V8 5 series. When they worked they were great to drive, but they did require a little money to keep going.

You could sell that and buy a S/c s2k with a little left over I think
