Default New Evo versus S2000

We all know that the new turbo AWD's can pull off 60 foot times we can only dream of. I'm no drag racer so I really don't know about this so please forgive my naiveness.

In a lot of threads, I've found typically a 1.5 to 2 car lead from an Evo jumping ahead of an S2000 from a dig. So, if the S2000 was on a quarter mile track with a 1.5 to 2 car lead to begin with (kind of like how Best Motoring does when laying out cars based on their power to weight ratios), how would the S2000 fair against the Evo?

I'd imagine that the Evo would still have the upper hand, but I'm wondering if anyone's tried this.

A better comparison is a rolling start (10-20mph). I've raced a local S2000 from a roll up to ~70mph and it was dead even. Now this is not always the case, some EVO's are a little stronger from the factory, some drivers a better than others,...etc. This race was also done on a hot and humid summer morning...in the winter I could easily see the EVO pulling.

The moral of the story is that in stock form, the EVO and S2000 are very close in rolling acceleration. It could swing either way depending on conditions, drivers, and car to car variance.

the evo and S have similar trap speeds, so from a roll it is definitely a driver's race.

they have similar trap because EVO is AWD
EVO is faster than an S2000...both in straight line and on track

I would agree from a roll it is close, but the Evo should win all the way up to the end of 4th gear.... at that point (110mph) gearing should make the Evo lose.

From a dead start evo should win to just beyond 130mph when the S2000 finally catches it....

Around a track the evo has lots of torque & awd so stock vs stock it seems to have the advantage.

I ran 13.4 in my stock evo vs 13.98 in my stock S2000. how much space is that at the end of the Qtr? 2-3 car leghths?

hw about s2000 + $3000 in mods vs. evo + $3000 in mods.

Motor Trend gets 13 flat with the Evo. But that is at Sea Level. It should not be close. If so, the Evo driver is bad.[SIZE=1]

The Motortrend time is debatable. The vast majority of EVO owners are running 13.3-13.7....a 13.0 is very unlikely unless it's ideal conditions.

I don't understand your logic. Trap speed is a good indication of power/weight ratio. Cars with similar trap speeds will have similar rolling acceleration.

That's a good question Seung... I'm guessing you have at least that much in horsepower mods.

I know that the Evo stands to benefit more from a few bolt-on mods so I'll take a guess out of my rear-end that the Evo has the upper hand by far.

But...

Your car would definitely look better than any Evo that comes around packing 3G's in mods Seung.
