It's been done before. The Ultima GTR. You can build one yourself as a kit car. 2178 lbs, up to 720 hp. Fastest car in the world 0-100-0 at one point. (Probably still is.)

A long time ago I actually visited the North American distributor of Ultima kits. Not sure if he's still around, but oh man those are really nice cars, and the guy who ran it was extremely nice. I was 18 at the time and he still came out to meet me on a Saturday to answer my questions and show me his car. The Ultima GTR is definitely one of my favorite cars of all time.

Don't you just wish some manufacturer would make a car around 2000 lbs and just make it somewhere close to 300hp and affordable?

That's all we want

This is starting to sound like the rebirth of the F40. I say bring it on.

Think Formula 1 It's usable with technology
I did, and it's still not feasible for the streets. F1 uses a different kind of tires and technology altogether. I still think it's wishful thinking that they'll make a 2200-lb, 700-hp car. As for the Ultima GTR, it's a kit car that didn't have to follow the standards of a production car.

you are joking, aren't you? have you ever seen a real one in person? the Enzo is ugly car in your mind?

the design of side and rear end is so stunning. maybe headlights need to be more aggresive. but it's ugly???
What can I say, I never liked it. I saw one in Vegas. That and the Testarossa are the only two Ferrari's I don't like.

I do think the 360/430's are the most beautiful cars ever designed though. Not a Ferrari hater, the Enzo just rubbed me the wrong way.

This just looks odd to me, but in fairness, I think the design is more based towards maximizing performance than it is at sacrificing an once of performance to gain a little beauty.

Right with you. The original Enzo is a god-awful looking car. We are not the only ones who think that.

It's a fantastic performer, but good lord is it ugly.

The Enzo replacement is sick.

a) Enzo = ugly, yes.
b) Ultima GTR I brought up simply to illustrate that 2200 lbs and 700+ hp can be usable.
c) 2000 lbs, 300 hp, and affordable. Hmm. I dunno if that's possible. The Exige S 240 comes close, but at a $66k base price.

I never thought I'd see the day Ferrari decided they needed to compromise with their designs due to fuel consumption...
I'd hardly call 700+ hp a compromise
