Of what I've seen so far... E46 M3 > E90 M3. This version is no where near as aggressive enough for a BMW M car. I hope the final design will prove me wrong.

Maybe in design, the E46 M3 will be superior to the E90 M3, but the E90's motor will blow that E46 tinny 3.2L I6 motor out of the water.

Got a ride in a new RS4 this past weekend at an Audi event. That 8,250rpm V8 sounded glorious. I'm sure the M3 V8 is going to be very sweet.

Yeah, I agree. The last generation M3 engine sound was not good. For a car in that price range and perfromance range I expected better and was very dissapointed. Hopefully, the next one will sound better. I assume with the V8 it will. I wonder how much it's going to weigh...

I love the metallic rapsy sound of the E46.

I didn't like the sound either. It sounded like the engine was made of fart can metal. It is a nice car, though
